Country-pop singer to perform at Box
ST. JOSEPH — Country­pop singer Melissa Elkins makes her first Box Factory for the Arts appearance at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Elkins, of Eau Claire, has performed locally at festivals, fund-raising events and other musical venues. On several occasions, she sang the national an­them at Kal­amazoo K­W ings hockey games. In 2003, Elkins placed in the top 100 female vo­calists at the Best New Tal­ent contest in Los Angeles.
In November 2004, she was given the title of Lakeland Idol in a local fund-raiser con­test. Elkins won first place in the Knoxville Star Contest in June 2005, which led to the recording of a demo of cover songs.
She was eventually intro­duced to a Nashville producer and recorded her debut album, “Dusty Road.”
The album includes two songs written by Elkins, “Floatin’ on Cloud 9” and “All I Do Is Cry.”
Tickets at the door are $8 for general admission and $6 for students and those 60 and older.
Children younger than 12 admitted free when accompa­nied by an adult.

Speaking of the Box...up and coming country-pop singer Melissa Elkins makes her debut there tonight, Saturday, August 25,2007 at 8:00pm. Melissa hails from Eau Claire, and has performed locally at festivals, fund raising events and other musical venues. Four years ago she was chosen to compete in the Best New Talent contest in Los Angeles, where she placed in the top 100 female vocalists.
